Audio/Video Equipment @ Ryerson University - Sally Horsfall Eaton

The following guidelines for the delivery of portable presentation technology (PT) equipment have been developed by Ryerson University Media Services Department to ensure that this service is carried out efficiently and smoothly at Ryerson.

Thanks to the many of you who already have found a way to facilitate smooth transitions around delivery and pick-up of this equipment. While every effort is made to provide on-time delivery and pick-up, the restrictions on resources, availability of elevators, crowded hallways, different locations, and unforeseen delayed pickup mean that this is not always possible. The number of daily on-the-hour deliveries/retrievals across the campus exceeds the number of available Media Services staff. As a result, we ask for your cooperation; please keep the following guidelines in mind.

DELIVERIES

  1. Only PT Carts and TV/VCR Carts are delivered due to the limited number of delivery staff.

  2. Plan to use PT equipment 50 minutes or less, during a one-hour class. This will allow for the variance in pick-up and delivery times due to back-to-back delivers of PT equipment.

  3. Five minutes before the class ends shutdown the PT equipment and coil the wires.

  4. If possible, place the PT equipment BY THE EXIT - INSIDE THE CLASSROOM, so that class interruptions are minimized.

  5. To avoid vandalism and theft DO NOT PLACE PT EQUIPMENT IN THE HALLWAY.

  6. Media Services staff will knock and quietly enter the classroom to carry out their duties. They are respectful that they are entering a learning environment, and will try to keep disruption to a minimum. Your cooperation and patience in such situations is requested.

  7. Faculty or instructors requiring training should contact Media Services and schedule a training session. Training on PT equipment set-up cannot be given at the time of delivery. As you can appreciate, a few minutes delay in one class impacts others awaiting delivery for their class.

  8. We normally cannot accommodate requests for use of PT equipment beyond scheduled times. Again, this would delay delivery for others.
