Mission & Core Values:

The Library Learning Commons is an innovative hub of learning and research that provides access to information resources, facilities for learning, technology, and expertise required by our diverse learning community based on its varied learning styles.


We are dedicated to delivering excellent customer service.


In collaboration with teaching faculty, we provide our diverse learning community with information literacy instruction, and life-long learning skills to support student success.


We take pride in and value a learning environment which is:

  • Accessible. We foster a flexible, equitable, inclusive and learning-styles-driven environment to provide information resources using research and reference materials, adaptive technology and software.
  • Excellence-based. To this end, we commit ourselves to delivering exemplary services and resources to our learning community.
  • Grounded in expertise. We are committed to developing and promoting our multi-facetted expertise/knowledge within the College and beyond.
  • Collaborative in nature. We value innovation and teamwork amongst our staff as well as extensive collaboration with faculty and in the development and delivery of our services in an effort to achieve a high level of satisfaction amongst our learning community, pride amongst our staff and respect from the wider library community.
  • Underpinned by information literacy. We are committed to life-long learning and student success through the teaching of information literacy skills.

To facilitate access to a wide variety of information resources, we will foster an environment of continuous learning by recruiting, training and developing a team of highly motivated staff recognized for their professional and technical expertise and respect for stakeholders’ evolving needs.

Library Learning Commons Policies & Guidelines

All active students, faculty and staff of George Brown College have access to resource centre collections with full borrowing privileges. Loan periods, borrowing privileges and other policies are written with the intent of giving users fair access to resource centre materials and to make the best educational use of these resources.
